Head’s Welcome

Thank you for visiting the website of Teikyo School UK. My name is Hamada, and I am proud to serve as principal of our school.

Teikyo School UK is an overseas school operated by Japan’s Teikyo Group, set in the countryside of southern Buckinghamshire, just outside London. We’re about 30 minutes from Heathrow Airport and close to Windsor Castle, home of the British Royal Family. Our campus sits within a protected Green Belt area, so deer and squirrels are a common sight among our green, open grounds.

At the heart of the campus stands our manor house, built 110 years ago and now the symbol of our school. Alongside it, students enjoy a listed historic theatre building (currently undergoing a full renovation), modern classrooms, tennis courts, a natural grass football pitch, and an indoor heated pool — everything they need to grow, both intellectually and personally, over three formative years.

On the academic side, graduates of Teikyo School UK earn a qualification equivalent to graduating from a Japanese senior high school. Alongside classes based on Japan’s national curriculum, we offer our own distinctive programmes — including the Global Studies Course, the Football Course, and the Art Course — so every student can pursue the path that suits them best.

In December 2022, we became the first Japanese overseas school to be authorised as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, offering the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP). This reflects the strong connection between our founding philosophy and the mission of the IB. IB results are respected by universities across Japan and around the world, and students on our Global Studies Course can begin the IBDP from January of their first year.

Our classes are small by design. We want every student to be known, to think for themselves, to work well with others, and to learn independently. This is grounded in our founding philosophy: to nurture empathy for others and to raise young people equipped with knowledge and a genuinely global outlook. This principle guides everything we do.

Beyond the classroom, students may choose to live at home or to board with us. Every room in our boarding house is private, respecting each student’s need for space, and each comes with its own bathtub. Boarding life teaches independence and community in equal measure — it becomes a second home, and fellow boarders become a second family. Being so close to London also means weekends can include shopping, dining, and trips to see music or theatre with friends.

Living in the UK also means English becomes part of everyday life — not just in the classroom. Students use English to communicate with our support staff, and they build on it through exchanges with local schools, study trips, extracurricular activities, off-campus football training, weekend homestays, and work experience placements. These experiences bring the British history and culture they study in class to life outside it.
